A pre-master should have all the tracks to be recorded onto the lacquer on the same source (DAT or CD) in the correct order and with a 3 to 5 second gap in between each track.

The tracks should be at approximately the same volume/ level, but do not 'over normalise' as this leads to a lack of audio dynamics and can result in distortion on the record.Don't worry about being exactly at 'maximum level' as adjustments will/ can be made to ensure all tracks are at the same level, as loud on the record as possible.

Try to avoid too much 'home' post production as this can also lead to problems in the final mastering.

Use your ears, don't just use a piece of software because you have it.
